Sacrocolpopexy Surgical Illustrations

Sacrocolpopexy (sacral colpopexy) is defined as a surgical technique for repairing pelvic organ prolapse (prolapse of the top of the vagina). Reconstruction is achieved with an open abdominal technique or with the use of minimally invasive techniques.

These illustrations were used by Phillipe Zimmern, M.D. at UTSouthwestern for a case report to demonstrate an innovative approach to sacrocolpopexy in which a previous mesh was removed and replaced by a new one.
