Mediscuro’s lead illustrator and founder, Nicholas Mayeux, has a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Communications from University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. During the program, he gained much expertise in the Medical Illustration field, completing a demanding curriculum with anatomy and other biological courses alongside medical students. He also completed many traditional illustration, digital art, and multimedia design courses. While training in the field of visual communication, he obtained valuable experience collaborating with doctors, surgeons, scientists, and peers on a variety of projects, and was awarded the Dean's Excellence Award in his class for his multi-step surgical illustration and biological illustration. He continues to create visually stunning artwork at Mediscuro.

We offer a wide range of services, which we like to break into the categories of illustration, design, animation, and multimedia.

Illustration: If you need images to accompany your research, text book publications, medical-legal posters, journal cover art, etc, then you are in need of illustration services. We illustrate medical, anatomical, surgical, biological, molecular, and medical device artwork, and this can be done in any style ranging from traditional drawing, clean line art, vector, 3D model renderings, black and white, or color. We export many file types such as JPEG, TIFF, PNG, PDF, etc. If you have specific questions about a particular project or style, please contact us so that we can discuss your ideas.

Graphic design: We create 2D marketing and branding artwork. It includes projects such as logo design, business collateral, pamphlet and brochure design, Infographics, promotional artwork, etc.

Animation: Includes a wide array of medical subject matter, whether educational, promotional marketing, or other purposes. Creating an animation consists of multiple steps which include working with our client to accurately envision their message. We research, story-board, write scripts, produce assets, create voice-overs, and animate to completion. (Note: we provide artwork, but video footage and photography will need to be provided by the client).

Multimedia: Consists of projects that include interactivity, such as presentations or interactive lessons. Projects that involve intense interactivity will need a programmer outside of Mediscuro to collaborate in the creation of the client’s multimedia. At Mediscuro, we treat each of our clients with professional quality and services. After discussing a prospective project with a client, Mediscuro will take some time to consider all of the aspects of the project, including the level of labor involved, type of media (for example, an illustration vs. an animation), and deadlines for completion. After this, we will send you an itemized estimate/contract. After the agreement for the project has been signed by both parties, Mediscuro will begin drafting. At Mediscuro, we typically include two revision cycles in case any part of the project needs modification. After this amount, additional fees will be given. We aim to create inspired work and to satisfy each of our clients to the fullest.

Service costs differ depending on several criteria, as mentioned above, depending on the level of complexity, type of media involved, and the deadline for the project.

Typically, black and white images cost less than color, illustration cost less than animation and interactive media, and if a project requires quick turnaround, there is an additional rush fee.

Mediscuro strives to meet all of our clients' deadlines; however, some projects take more time than others. Depending on your specific needs, any project can take days, weeks or months to complete. We will do what we can if you are in need of quick turnaround, and we are always happy to discuss options for quicker turnaround if necessary.

Copyright is the exclusive legal right to reproduce, publish, sell, or distribute original work. Mediscuro will discuss whether or not the client wants to purchase the exclusive copyright to the commissioned work, or a limited license. We believe that copyright infringement is a danger to our livelihood and aim to prevent such events. We encourage all of our clients to be knowledgeable of copyright laws.
